- Explore the New Facility!
- The new Education Center will be opened to the public on Family Science Day
on the first day of November.
This building was refered to as the Johnston building and remained
vacant and unfinished for many years. Through the support and generosity of many,
this building can now be used to further educate the youth of our community
and the surrounding areas.

- See Train history come alive!
- Model railroading is coming to
the Discovery Center this fall.
A group of experienced model railroaders from the
local area will be building a permanent layout inside
the exhibit hall. The new exhibit intends to point
out to the general public the important part railroads
had in the growth and prosperity of the San Joaquin
Valley, as well as the Seirra Nevada Mountains and
foothills. Some of the focus points will be the part
the railroads played in the area of agriculture and
logging.
The exhibit will also show how to build a train
layout from the ground up. This will include but
not be limited to clinics on how to build structures
and trees, as well as running the trains.
Come, enjoy, and learn.
- Tiles
- Tiles are still available for those who wish to give
a full two years support. Call the Center for details.
- Outreach
- The Discovery Center takes its show on the road! It will be launching a new outreach program this Spring.
This program will be provided to schools and community centers throughout the valley.
Those who are interested should contact the Center immediately to be placed on a list.
Don't miss out!
One phase of the program is called DISCOVERWORKS.
It will feature the vibrant talents of local educators
such as Roni Weil and Karen West.
They will be bringing to life four fantastic assembly programs.
Topics for the programs are:
- Crazy Chemistry
- Magical Mythology
- Stellar Star Sightings
- Planting a Seed
- Watch for the upcoming flyer describing the booking options.
- Summer Science Camp Success!
- Memories of disected cow eye balls,
rocket launches, flourescent scorpians, renaissance jugglers
will continue to linger on in the minds of those who attended and assisted.
The Discovery Center thanks all of those bright enthusiastic kids who survived the camp.
The Center also thanks all of the guest speakers who volunteered their time.
If you missed out on Summer Camp, look for brochures on Winter Break Camp,
Spring Break Camp, and future Summer Camps!
The brochures will be mailed to everyone on the Centers mailing list.
To be added on the Centers mailing list, call 251-5531.
