20" and 27"	"VI-BRO-LAP" Diamond Pacific bought out Contempo.	These heavy-duty laps can accommodate a number of specimens at the same time. Each machine provides rapid grinding and polishing in circular oscillating motion without damaging the slabbed edges. The tempered aluminum lap plates are V-grooved in a criss-cross square-grid pattern. This permits abrasive particles to circulate between the lap plate and the piece being worked. The abrasive is being continually crushed to a smaller size while performing its grinding or polishing action. The breaking down of the particles reduces the number of grit sizes needed. After the bottom side of the workpiece is ground flat to a satin smooth surface, the lap plate can be turned over to the other side on which a polishing pad is cemented. The Workpiece can be put on the pad along with a polishing compound to produce a fine mirror-like finish. Lead Weights

These adjustable lead weights hold slabs of almost any shape for vibratory lapping. They have independent adjustable retaining pins to hold a slab in place. Lapping time is reduced considerably because the surface is evenly lapped. The "lapmate" can be left unattended once it is adjusted to proper fit and secured tight.
